Delicious! Got the slop bowl with slaw, beans, mac & cheese, pulled pork, and pickled onions. Very generous serving. Will be back.

Five stars. Everything is delicious, especially the brisket. There are several truly alpha gal friendly items: the chicken BBQ, tofu, baked beans, coleslaw, pickles, and onions. My husband has alpha gal (aka red meat allergy or mammal allergy) and can't do pork/beef/milk/butter/lard/cheese, and he has successfully eaten full and delicious meals from Twisted Oak Barbecue with no cross-contamination. He was able to ask exactly what goes into everything and how it's prepared, and they know because they make it themselves. Alpha gal diners, order with confidence. What would make it a complete experience would be a milk-free bun, but it's just a vehicle to transport the BBQ anyway and not essential to the meal.

We had an excellent experience with Twisted Oak BBQ catering our outdoor 130 guest wedding buffet style. Michael answered all of our questions regarding food options and was able to easily provide options for dietary restrictions. We received so many comments regarding how delicious the meal was (especially the brisket). A great choice for Charlottesville area catering!

Twisted Oak Barbecue has THE BEST beef brisket in town BY FAR. Since moving to Charlottesville from Texas, we have had trouble finding comparable bbq and have tried many places all over town claiming to have “Texas style beef brisket”. None have come close. However, after trying Twisted Oak for the first time today, I can say with confidence that Mike has true AND exceptional Texas style brisket. The brisket was tender, moist, juicy, and has an excellent smoky flavor. We also got to try some of the turkey, which was delicious! Other bbq places had meat that was so dry and flavorless, that you needed a gallon of bbq sauce just to achieve any sort of smoky flavor profile. With Twisted Oak, both the brisket and turkey could stand alone delivering flavor-packed bites without any sauce! It really is THAT good. Now, a note about the owner and operator. Mike stays busy with catering, being opened for lunch, and making game day tailgate packages. Despite that, Mike was so easy to get in touch with for inquiries, and especially hospitable and accommodating. We gave him a call to ask about his lunch options/availability and he invited us to come pick some food up to try despite being prim

This unassuming BBQ car by the train tracks at Meade / Carlton is, and I shit you not, the best barbecue I've had since I moved from KC to the MidAtlantic. Their Brisket sandwich with slaw was spot on. Fatty juicy bits mixed with just firm enough meat, a simple light bun and a side of pickles and pickled red onions. I'll come back every weekend to try the whole menu. I'd give it six stars if I could. Honest to God.
